Dear [Insert MP Name],

I am writing to you not only as a constituent but as a deeply disillusioned Labour voter.

When I voted for Labour at the last general election, I did so with a sense of hope. After years of Conservative austerity, cruelty, and corruption, I believed Labour could offer something different - rooted in justice, compassion, and meaningful change. But that hope has withered.

The recent Supreme Court ruling affirming a narrow, biological definition of “woman” under the Equality Act is a blow to the rights and dignity of trans people and a dangerous step backwards for all women. The Labour leadership’s immediate embrace of this ruling, particularly Sir Keir Starmer’s remarks, shows a shocking willingness not just to accept the judgment legally, but to champion it socially. It makes clear that Labour is no longer a party willing to defend the rights of all marginalised people.

This is not an isolated moment. It is part of a broader pattern of political drift that has seen Labour abandon the values it once claimed to uphold.

Adding to this are Labour’s embrace of punitive welfare rhetoric and its refusal to back striking workers in critical sectors. I am left wondering: who does this Labour Party speak for?

It no longer speaks for me.

Unless Labour course-corrects and begins to actively stand up for justice, for trans rights, for international human rights, and for working people, it will not have my support in the next election. You cannot take my vote for granted. I urge you, as my elected representative, to carry this message back to your party. Labour is losing those who believed in it most.

Sincerely,
